Improving Flow Into Tourist Island
Interject announced the operation of its second international route, Mexico and Havana, which will start operations on August 11 at a cost of 299 pesos 2000, basic flight including taxes.
The route, which has 150 000 potential passengers expected to increase the flow of tourists to the island and bring the destination for Mexicans, to say the commercial attaché at the Embassy of Cuba in Mexico, Angel Luis Salivary, needs more promotion.
“I think there is a lack of information on tourist destinations in Cuba here in Mexico …The traditional tourist destinations have been to Havana and Vardar, and we have more to offer as there are tourist resorts in the north to Kayo Coco and Playa Flamingo and east of the province of Holguin and Santa Lucia beach, “said Salivary.
A little over a month to announce its first international route, between Mexico and Guatemala, the Commercial Director of the airline, Vincent Conti, said that in addition to two new destinations, hopes to open more Interject international services, such as Bogota, Colombia, and United States, with cities and dates yet to be defined.
Gustavo Mendoza, national sales manager, explained that the annual permit to operate in Cuba was obtained in June by Interject and cannot be revoked.
Interject and Aeromexico are the two airlines permitted to operate this route, so in case of Mexico, who also handled such assignments, activities resume, the government would have to define who can keep flying, as the bilateral agreement only allows two airlines fly to another country.
